How to Clean and Dry Your Apple Watch
Things You’ll Need
- Non-abrasive, lint-free cloth.
- Fresh, warm running water.
- Isopropyl alcohol or Disinfectant Wipes suitable for use on technology.
Steps
- Turn off your Apple Watch. If charging, remove the Apple Watch from its charger.
- Remove bands from either side of your Apple Watch. Click here to see steps on how to do this.
- Using a non-abrasive and lint free cloth, wipe your Apple Watch clean of any obvious grime and dirt.
- If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with fresh water and clean thoroughly through soft sweeping motions, taking care not to scratch your Apple Watch with too much friction.
- If your Apple Watch has stubborn substances or debris in visible areas such as the speaker ports, you may place your Apple Watch under lightly running, warm, fresh water until it’s clean.
- Please note, soaps or any other cleaning products must not be used on your Apple Watch.
- If you wish to disinfect your Apple Watch at this stage, you may do so by lightly spraying the disinfectant on a piece of lint-free, non abrasive cloth or use specially made disinfectant wipes for use on technology.
How to Clean and Dry the Digital Crown on Your Apple Watch
In some instances, the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch may get stuck. If this happens check for substances or debris around the Digital Crown and follow these steps to clean.

- Absorbent, non-abrasive, and lint free cloth.
- Fresh warm running water.
Steps
- Turn off your Apple Watch. If charging, remove the Apple Watch from its charger.
- Remove bands from either side of your Apple Watch. Click here to see steps on how to do this.
- Place the Digital Crown under lightly running, warm, fresh water from the tap. Do not use any soap or cleaning products when cleaning your Apple Watch.
- While placed under the tap, turn and press the Digital Crown continuously while making sure running water gets through in between the crown and the case/housing.
- Once your Apple Watch is clean, use an absorbent, non-abrasive, and lint free cloth to dry in between the Digital Crown, and all the surfaces of your Apple Watch. Make sure to dry thoroughly, rotate and press on the digital crown while doing so.
